Hyper-Coordinated DNA Methylation is Altered in Schizophrenia and Associated with Brain Function

چکیده

Abstract DNA methylation is an epigenetic biological process that emerging as important mediator of environmental risk effects on the susceptibility severe illness, such schizophrenia. shows coordination across biologically-related genes, but it not known whether resulting network structure has a mediating effect illness risk. Here we identified large gene with hyper-coordinated in several processes are changed brain patients schizophrenia, and associated schizophrenia-relevant function well genetic susceptibility. We found was physiologically coordinated reproducible comprised 6399 genes showed similar architecture blood brain. The core importance for including synaptic strongest common variants Coordinated these decreased samples from donors age-dependent association function. These results support regulatory principle relevant to schizophrenia may be sensitive exposure during specific developmental periods compound predisposition.

Plasma total homocysteine is associated with DNA methylation in patients with schizophrenia

Schizophrenia (SCZ) is a devastating psychiatric disorder with a median lifetime prevalence rate of 0.7-0.8%. Elevated plasma total homocysteine has been suggested as a risk factor for SCZ, and various biological effects of hyperhomocysteinemia have been proposed to be relevant to the pathophysiology of SCZ. As increased attention is paid to aberrant DNA methylation in SCZ, homocysteine is attr...

Altered DNA methylation is associated with docetaxel resistance in human breast cancer cells.

Docetaxel is an effective chemotherapy drug to treat breast cancer but the underlying molecular mechanisms of drug resistance are not fully understood. DNA methylation is an epigenetic event, involved in the control of gene expression, which is known to play an important role in cancer and chemotherapy drug resistance. To investigate the role of DNA methylation in docetaxel resistance in breast...

Rare Absence of CD79alpha in B-ALLs is not Associated with Altered Prognosis

Background: The diagnosis of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) on the basis of the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations in 2016 requires the expression of CD19 with CD79a (CD79a), cCD22 and CD10. CD79a is an integral B cell antigen expressed at all stages. Its absence in B-ALL has only been rarely reported. In this study, we described three cases of B-ALL showing complete l...

DNA methylation of the serotonin transporter gene (SLC6A4) is associated with brain function involved in processing emotional stimuli.

BACKGROUND The aim of the present study was to investigate the association of fMRI blood oxygen-level dependent (BOLD) reactivity with the level of epigenetic methylation of SLC6A4 in blood DNA from a sample of healthy participants and patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). METHODS We investigated patients with MDD and healthy controls using fMRI and an emotional attention-shifting ta...

HIF3A DNA Methylation Is Associated with Childhood Obesity and ALT

Gene polymorphisms associated so far with body mass index (BMI) can explain only 1.18-1.45% of observed variation in BMI. Recent studies suggest that epigenetic modifications, especially DNA methylation, could contribute to explain part of the missing heritability, and two epigenetic genome-wide analysis studies (EWAS) have reported that Hypoxia Inducible Factor 3 Alpha Subunit (HIF3A) methylat...
